Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 68:4-6a

Monday, May 30, 2011 – Easter 7, Year A

We are approaching the seventh week of Easter, and we are offered the following scriptures from the lectionary: Acts 1:6-14; Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35; 1 Peter 4:12-14, 5:6-11; John 17:1-11.

Psalm 68:4-6aSing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds-his name is LORD-be exultant before him. Father of orphans and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God gives the desolate a home to live in; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity…

God: parent of the parentless, shelter-giver to the shelter-less. God works in mysterious ways, but God also works through us. I think of us as God’s hands and feet on earth, caring as best we can for those least among us.

Prayer: Protector God, help us as we strive to make your world gentler for all your children. AMEN.
