Fifth Sunday of Epiphany 2017 – Psalm 112:5, 9

Thursday, February 2, 2017

Psalm 112:5, 9 – It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice…They have distributed freely, they have given to the poor; their righteousness endures forever; their horn is exalted in honor.

The Bible is full of references similar to this one regarding the sharing of our material wealth.  Passages like this remind us that all we have is borrowed from God, and that we are to trust God in all our affairs so that we can deal generously with our neighbors.

Loving God, help us to place our trust in you more fully so that we can be more generous people.  Amen.
