Proper 23 (28) 2016 – 2 Kings 5:1-3

2 Kings 5:1-3Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man and in high favor with his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Aram.  The man, though a mighty warrior, suffered from leprosy.

Naaman suffered from a disease that made most others of his time outcasts.  Despite living in a time of more enlightenment about disease and disease transmission, we still make outcasts of some of God’s children who are suffering.

Gracious God, keep us mindful of our own frailties, and help us be more compassionate to those who are suffering.  Amen.
