Proper 19 (24) 2016 – Luke 15:1-2

Tuesday, September 06, 2016

The lectionary selections for this coming Sunday include: Jeremiah 4:11-12, 22-28 and Psalm 14, Exodus 32:7-14 and Psalm 51:1-10, 1 Timothy 1:12-17, and Luke 15:1-10.

Luke 15:1-2Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to Jesus.  And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”

To whom should we minister?  Who is our neighbor?  Jesus challenged the status quo throughout his ministry, and we are challenged to do the same at work, at home, and in the world.

Creator God, give us the courage to push the boundaries of our comfort zones in service to our brothers and sisters.  Amen.
