Hebrews 13:3Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured.

Every Sunday at my church we share an affirmation of community where we vow that “we will begin to feel at least a bit of the pain of those we consider our enemies.”  Our passage today instructs us to be empathetic toward our neighbors.

Loving God, help us to be more sensitive to pain and hardship of others.  Amen.
