Proper 5/Ordinary 10 2016 – Luke 7:13-15

Luke 7:13-15When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”   Then he came forward and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, rise!”  The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother.

This widow would have probably become destitute had Jesus not healed her only son.  A son lives, and a woman is saved from a life of poverty.  One act that saved two people.

Compassionate God, help us in our efforts to make our community healthier, one person at a time.  Amen.
