Proper 4/Ordinary 9 2016 – Luke 7:2-3

Luke 7:2-3A centurion in Capernaum had a slave whom he valued highly, and who was ill and close to death.  When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to him, asking him to come and heal his slave.

I wish I knew more of the details of this Roman soldier.  While a leader of an occupying military force, this man befriended the religious leaders of Capernaum in a way that led them to advocate on his behalf.

Loving God, help us to be more kind to one another.  Amen.
