Third Sunday of Easter 2016 – John 21:5-6

Friday, April 8, 2016

John 21:5-6Jesus said to them, “Children, you have no fish, have you?” They answered him, “No.”  He said to them, “Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because there were so many fish.

I couldn’t help but think of this scene as a metaphor for us today.  We live and work together in an exciting but complicated time.  Like me, you may even feel at times as though your personal net, your spirit, your enthusiasm, your energy, is depleted maybe even empty.   It is when we are feeling like this, that we need to listen even closer for God’s voice in our lives.

God of all harvests, help us to hear your voice in our lives.  Help us to find abundance in all we do.  Amen.
