Second Sunday of Easter 2016 – John 20:19

John 20:19When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”

Can you imagine how the disciples felt after Jesus’ crucifixion?  They were obviously scared for their own lives.  They were probably questioning the point of the previous three years they had spent following Jesus.  But into this fear, shame and doubt, Jesus walked right in.

Gracious and merciful God, you accept us with all our faults.  Help us to be more accepting of ourselves.  Amen.
