Easter Sunday 2016 – Isaiah 65:17

Monday, March 21, 2016

We have to walk together through Holy Week, but we know that Easter and its promises are just a few days away.  The lectionary selections for this Easter Sunday include: Acts 10:34-43 or Isaiah 65:17-25, Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24, 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 or Acts 10:34-43, John 20:1-18 or Luke 24:1-12.

Isaiah 65:17For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; the former things shall not be remembered or come to mind.

I can’t help but think of the human side of Jesus this week.  As he enters Jerusalem, he knows how the week will end, and yet Jesus keeps walking toward his fate and the promise it made possible to all of us.

Creator God, in our moments of joy, help us to remember to give you thanks.  In our moments of greatest fear, make your presence palpable to us.  Amen.
