Second Sunday of Advent 2015 – Luke 1:76-77

Monday, November 30, 2015

I hope all of my readers had a blessed Thanksgiving.  We are approaching the second Sunday of the Advent season, and the prophecies continue in our readings.  This week the lectionary selections include: Baruch 5:1-9 (from the Apocrypha) or Malachi 3:1-4, Luke 1:68-79, Philippians 1:3-11, and Luke 3:1-6.

Luke 1:76-77 – And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins.

A new grandson has been added to my family recently, and this is bringing great joy.  As I read today’s selection, it reminded me that children represent potential that we can’t fully comprehend, and they remain precious as they grow up.

Creator God, help us to see all children, all people, as holy and precious gifts from you.  Amen.
