Proper 23/Ordinary 28 2015 – Hebrews 4:12

Monday, October 5, 2015

The lectionary selections for this week include: Job 23:1-9, 16-17 and Psalm 22:1-15, Amos 5:6-7, 10-15 and Psalm 90:12-17, Hebrews 4:12-16, and Mark 10:17-31.  Job laments his situation, and Jesus answers the question of what must be done to inherit eternal life.

Hebrews 4:12 – Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

I am a member of the United Church of Christ, and we have a campaign called God is Still Speaking.  This campaign reminds us that God still has much to say to us…that God remains a living and active presence in our lives.

Creator God, help us to both hear and understand your voice in our lives.  Amen.
