1 Kings 3:5, 9-10At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask what I should give you.”  Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, able to discern between good and evil; for who can govern this your great people?”  It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this.

‘Help me help your people, O Lord,’ was Solomon’s wish.  In our race-to-get-ahead world, Solomon reminds us that serving God’s people is the service to which our faith calls us.

Understanding God, we have hands, feet and voices that we can use to serve you.  Help us to use these instruments of your peace wisely.  Amen.
