Mark 5:28-30 – …for she said, “If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well.”  Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.  Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my clothes?”

The story of the women with the hemorrhage is a rich and powerful healing story.  In these verses Jesus feels the power leaving him, and I have come to see this aspect of the story as reminding us that helping others can be taxing, even when we are called by God to help.

Understanding God, help us remember to take care of ourselves so that we may offer ourselves more fully to others from our abundance rather than our scarcity.  Amen.
