Easter Sunday 2015 – John 20:1-2

John 20:1-2Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb.  So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”

It is always interesting writing for Easter Sunday during Holy Week.  In our Holy Week scriptures Judas is plotting to betray Jesus, the Last Supper will be celebrated on Thursday and Friday brings Jesus’ horrific death.  Yet as Christians while we remember the betrayals and suffering Jesus endured for us, we always have our eye on the glory of Easter.

God of miracles, help us to remember today all people who are suffering in your name.  May they never feel disconnected from you.  Amen.
