Fifth Sunday of Lent 2015 – Psalm 51:10

Psalm 51:10Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.

I have probably said it before, but I have trouble with the bumper stickers that say, “God is my copilot.”  While copilots play key roles in the flights in which they participate, we think of their presence as being there for the “just in case moments,” those moments of emergency.  God wants to be a constant advisor to us, not just the friend to whom you turn when turning to yourself hasn’t been working out so well.

Gentle God, open our hearts to your presence creating blank slates within us so you can write your will into our lives.  Amen.
