Fifth Sunday of Lent 2015 – Jeremiah 31:34

Monday, March 16, 2015

It’s Spring Break season across the country as we approach the fifth Sunday of Lent.   Our passages for meditation and consideration this week include: Jeremiah 31:31-34, Psalm 51:1-12 or Psalm 119:9-16, Hebrews 5:5-10, and John 12:20-33.

Jeremiah 31:34No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the LORD,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more.

I try to look at life filled as if it were filled with shades of gray, without clear lines that separate us from each other regardless of our personal stories.  That said, I think it is easy for us to quickly categorize people into groups…better groups and lesser groups, engaged groups and indifferent groups.  Today’s passage challenges us to look at people through God’s eyes as best we can.

Creator God, help us to be slow to judge and quick to embrace the people who surround us.  Amen.
