Mark 1:30-31 – Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her at once.  He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

I wondered why it was so important for Mark to add that she began to serve them as soon as she was healed.  One might be to indicate that her healing was complete.  Another thought is that in healing her, Jesus made it possible to for her to help others, to serve them with dignity.

Healer God, help us to be instruments of your healing presence toward others in this world.  Amen.
