Fifth Sunday of Epiphany 2015 – Isaiah 40:21-22a

Monday, February 2, 2015

I can believe it is already February.  Two more Sundays , and we will be in Lent.  For the upcoming fifth Sunday of Lent we are offered the following scriptures: Isaiah 40:21-31, Psalm 147:1-11, 20c, 1 Corinthians 9:16-23, and Mark 1:29-39.

Isaiah 40:21-22a – Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?  It is God who sits above the circle of the earth…

Time is a linear phenomenon for us – a month starts and it later ends.  We begin our week and our February devotions remembering that for God, time has been more circular – with no beginning and fortunately for us, no end.

Creator God, help us to appreciate the fullness of your creative handiwork around us today.  Amen.
