Proper 15/Ordinary 20, 2014 – Matthew 15:22-23

Matthew 15:22-23Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.” But Jesus did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, “Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.”

I am always surprised by this passage because I can’t believe Jesus would ignore someone asking for help. But then I indicted myself, remembering all the times have I felt too busy to help someone in need or worse, simply chose to ignore them.

Understanding God, soften our hearts toward one another. Amen.
