Genesis 25:22-23The children struggled together within Rebekah; and she said, “If it is to be this way, why do I live?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. And the LORD said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples born of you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the elder shall serve the younger.”

Rebekah went directly to God with her question, her prayer. Often for me and maybe for you, prayer is often offered as a last resort. While the forebears of our faith their faults, their lives are portrayed as ongoing conversations with God.

Gracious God, help us to ask you first, to seek your guidance more readily in everything we do. Amen.
