Fifth Sunday of Easter 2014 – Acts 7:58-59

Acts 7:58-59Then they dragged him out of the city and began to stone him; and the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul. While they were stoning Stephen, he prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

I think it is important to remember that the man who would become Apostle Paul stood by with coats at his feet while the first Christian martyr was stoned to death. God can use anyone for a greater purpose.

Merciful God, help us to be as forgiving to those around us as is humanly possible. Amen.
