Fifth Sunday of Easter 2014 – 1 Peter 2:4-5

1 Peter 2:4-5Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

For me, this is a passage about the community of faith in which we live. One stone gets in the way. One stone is a trip hazard. But many stones, when bound together by a common mortar, can create a mighty wall.

Loving God, help us to focus on those aspects of our faith which bind us together so that we can be a powerful testament for you. Amen.
