Matthew 4:3-4 – The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
As Matthew reads, Jesus had fasted for 40 days and nights and was famished when the devil began to tempt him about food. During Lent I am more aware of the temptations that surround me than at any other time of the year. We are reminded this morning to gain our strength by feasting on the Word of God.
Sustainer God, may your Word provide a rich source of spiritual nutrition for us. Amen.
