First Sunday of Lent, 2014 – Psalm 32:7

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Psalm 32:7You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with glad cries of deliverance. Selah.

Selah appears 74 times in the Hebrew Bible, 71 of those times in the Psalms. I have normally dropped it from these devotions, but I kept it in place this morning. One of the meanings suggested for selah is measure or measured. Read the selection again, and instead of selah, say “Measure carefully what has just been said.”

Wonderful God, help us to remember that we can always find shelter in you. Amen.
