First Sunday of Lent 2014 – Genesis 3:6

Monday, March 3, 2014

We are approaching Ash Wednesday and the first Sunday of Lent. The passages for Sunday include Genesis 2:15-17, 3:1-7; Psalm 32; Romans 5:12-19 and Matthew 4:1-11. Our Ash Wednesday passage will come from Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21.

Genesis 3:6So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate.

Did Adam try to stop Eve from taking the first bite? The Bible doesn’t provide their conversation prior to eating the fruit, but we are reminded that we should strive to be positive presences in the lives of those around us.

Understanding God, guide us in our relationships so that we are helping people to be the best they can be. Amen.
