A Day in the Life of Jesus – Mark 1:21-22

This week: A Day in the Life of Jesus – Mark 1:21-39

Monday, February 10, 2014

By the time you have read to the 20th verse of Mark 1, Jesus has been baptized by John, has spent 40 days in the wilderness, has traveled to Galilee and has already developed a following of people, some of whom will become his apostles.

Mark 1:21-22They went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, he entered the synagogue and taught. They were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

The first time I was a liturgist, I was to read a passage of scripture with a string of town names in it I had never seen. When I asked the pastor how to pronounce these words he said simply, “Boldly.”

Gracious God, give us confident voices so that we can speak of our faith in you with authority. Amen.
