Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 121:1-2, 7-9

Wednesday, October 16, 2013 – Proper 24/Ordinary 29, Year C

Psalm 121:1-2, 7-9I lift up my eyes to the hills – from where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth…The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.

Part of the recovery process involves submitting oneself to God, of crying out, “Help me Lord!” But crying out for God’s help and guidance is not reserved for those in need of recovery from a powerful addiction. Psalm 121 provides a mantra for all of us.

Prayer: Creator God, help us sense your unending presence in our lives better so that we can lean on you with confidence. Amen.
