Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – 2 Kings 5:2-3

Wednesday, October 9, 2013 – Proper 23/Ordinary 28, Year C

2 Kings 5:2-3Now the Arameans on one of their raids had taken a young girl captive from the land of Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. She said to her mistress, “If only my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

Who would think a young girl could provide information that could lead to healing? The passage reminds us that each of us can be a healing presence for others. In our Congregational Health Promoter program we train a variety of people, lay and professional, to become reliable sources of health information so that they can minister to members of their faith community.

Prayer: Loving God, bless all those people among us who seek to help us in our journeys toward healthier lives. Amen.
