Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – 2 Kings 5:1-3

Tuesday, October 8, 2013 – Proper 23/Ordinary 28, Year C

2 Kings 5:1-3Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Aram, was a great man and in high favor with his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Aram. The man, though a mighty warrior, suffered from leprosy.

Naaman suffered from a disease that made most others of his time outcasts. Despite living in a time of more enlightenment about disease and disease transmission, we still make outcasts of some of God’s children who are suffering.

Prayer: Gracious God, keep us mindful of our own frailties, and help us be more compassionate to those who are suffering. Amen.
