Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Exodus 32:11, 12b, 14

Wednesday, September 11, 2013 – Proper 19/Ordinary 24

Exodus 32:11, 12b, 14 But Moses implored the LORD his God, and said, “O LORD, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?…Turn from your fierce wrath; change your mind and do not bring disaster on your people.” And the LORD changed his mind about the disaster that he planned to bring on his people.

This passage finds Moses imploring God to take a different path than the one he has in mind. While so many of our prayers end with “thy will be done,” this passage encourages us to not only pray for one another but to pray boldly.

Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for the parental love you offer, for the steadfast love and understanding that comes from knowing our innermost selves. Amen.
