Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 139:1-2, 13-14

Wednesday, September 4, 2013 – Proper 18/Ordinary 23, Year C

Psalm 139:1-2, 13-14O LORD, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away…For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.

This passage made me think about those who are closest to us – our spouses, our parents, our siblings, our special friends. We come to see at least some of these people as understanding us better than anyone else, as being able to predict our next moves. We are reminded today that God knows us better than any of these.

Prayer: Almighty God, help us come to know you as our best friend. Amen.
