Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Luke 11:1-2

Wednesday, July 24, 2013 – Proper 12/Ordinary 17, Year C

Luke 11:1-2He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.”

Jesus asks that we first acknowledge the parental nature of God’s love for us. Our relationship to God is as intimate as that of a parent – “Our Father, our Parent, who art in heaven.”

Prayer: Gracious God who loves us as the perfect parent, use us as instruments of your will as we build your kingdom here on earth. Amen.
