Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 25:6-7

Monday, July 8, 2013 – Proper 10/Ordinary 15, Year C

In our scriptures this week, Paul reminds us to pray without ceasing for one another, and Jesus explains what it means to be a good neighbor through the story of the Good Samaritan. The lectionary selections include: Amos 7:7-17; Psalm 82; Colossians 1:1-14 and Luke 10:25-37. Alternate selections include Deuteronomy 30:9-14 and Psalm 25:1-10.

Psalm 25:6-7Be mindful of your mercy, O LORD, and of your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for your goodness’ sake, O LORD!

All of us have a skeleton or two in our closet. For some of us, the past can be a terrible burden to overcome. In this passage, the Psalmist reminds us of God’s steadfast love for us that is able to overcome any of our own transgressions.

Prayer: Loving God, we are imperfect people who are bathed in your perfect love. Grant that our chosen path is always one that is toward you. Gently nudge us back when we stray. Amen.
