Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 96:1-3

Tuesday, May 28, 2013 – Proper 4 – Ordinary 9, Year C

Great acts of faith are found in the passages for this coming Sunday. The lectionary selections include 1 Kings 18:20-39, Psalm 96, Galatians 1:1-12 and Luke 7:1-10. An alternative passage is 1 Kings 8:22-23, 41-43.

Psalm 96:1-3O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.

We are reminded by this passage that being a person of faith is not a passive activity. We are to witness to God’s activity in our life on a daily basis, “singing” to all the earth.

Prayer: Gracious God, help us to be better witnesses to your active presence in our lives each day. Amen.
