Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 8:3-6, 8

Thursday, May 23, 2013 – Trinity Sunday, Year C

Psalm 8:3-6, 8When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet…the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

This passage reminds us that we are the caretakers of God’s creation. While we may differ in our opinions on global warming or pipelines carrying oil from Canada, we can’t deny our responsibility to care for our planet.

Prayer: Creator God, we ask a special blessing this day for the birds of air and the creatures of the sea. Grant us wisdom as we seek to care for your creation. Amen.
