Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 150:1-2, 6

Wednesday, April 3, 2013 – Second Sunday of Easter, Year C

Psalm 150:1-2, 6Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! Let everything that breathes praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!

I think I can describe myself as a rather sedate Christian, yet this Psalm makes me think I am too quiet when I worship. In the verses between 2 and 6, we are given a list instruments with which to praise God: the sound of trumpets, lutes, harps, tambourines, strings, pipes, clanging cymbals as well as loud crashing cymbals. Verse 4 even suggests we dance.

Prayer: Gracious God, help us find new ways to praise you even if they challenge our sense of decorum. Amen.
