Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Isaiah 65:20

Monday, March 25, 2013 – Easter Sunday, Year C

Welcome to Holy Week. Our lectionary selections for Easter Sunday include: Acts 10:34-43; Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24; 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 and John 20:1-18. Alternate readings include: Isaiah 65:17-25 and Luke 24:1-12.

Isaiah 65:20 No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old person who does not live out a lifetime; for one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth, and one who falls short of a hundred will be considered accursed.

Isaiah offers beautiful imagery of how it will be when God ushers in “new heavens and a new earth (v 17).” As we consider the resurrection of Jesus, let us also consider our own rebirth, our resurrection that can be experienced today.

Prayer: Creator God, help us to embrace you more fully so that we can be more helpful in ushering in your kingdom. Amen.
