Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Psalm 32:3,5

Tuesday March 5, 2013 – Fourth Sunday of Lent, Year C

Psalm 32:3, 5 – While I kept my silence, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity, I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin.

A counselor friend was talking to me about the negative power of secrets. He said that when you are keeping a secret not only do you have to expend the normal energy one does to get through the day, but one also has the added burden of keeping the secret. It may be cliché, but confession is good for the soul.

Prayer: Forgiving God, help us to be more open to you and to one another. Amen.
