Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Luke 13:7-8

Friday, March 1, 2013 – Third Sunday of Lent, Year C

Luke 13:7-8 – “So he said to the gardener, ‘See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting this soil?’ He replied, ‘Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it.’”

Gardens left unattended produce little. In our journey toward God we are, like the gardener in the parable, fertilizing our faith. May all of our journeys produce abundant blooms and branches laden with fruit.

Prayer: Gracious, loving God, may your Spirit well up inside us as we seek a closer relationship with you. Amen.
