Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Deuteronomy 26:8-10

Monday, February 11, 2013 – First Sunday of Lent, Year C

Deuteronomy 26:8-10 – “…The LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with a terrifying display of power, and with signs and wonders; and he brought is into this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. So now I bring the first of the fruit of the ground that you, O LORD, have given me.”

I remember little of the high school French I took, but I always liked the name for potatoes, pomme de terre, apple of the earth. My relationship with potatoes has not always been a healthy, portion-controlled one, but I remain thankful for them as they are one of my favorite foods. Thank God for your favorite fruit or vegetable today.

Prayer: Creator God, thank you for providing us with an abundance of healthy and delicious food. Amen.
