Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Isaiah 6:6-8

Monday, February 4, 2013  – Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany, Year C

The lectionary selections for this week include: Isaiah 6:1-8, (9-13); Psalm 138; 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 and Luke 5:1-11.

Isaiah 6:6-8 – Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!”

When I read this, I wondered what the job ad would look like for Isaiah’s job. This is what came to my mind:

Must be able to accept my forgiveness.
Must be willing to go where I lead.

Prayer: Gracious God, help us live into the life you want us to lead. Amen.
