Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Mark 12:42-44

Friday, November 9, 2012 – Proper 27/Ordinary 32, Year B

Mark 12:42-44A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny.  Then Jesus called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.  For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

This has been an interesting week in the scriptures where we are challenged to a radical trust in God – placing God first, especially in our most vulnerable moments.  May each of us find the strength to stand firm in our trust in God if we are called to such trials.

Prayer: Gracious God, you are our strength.  Help us sense your unending presence in our lives so that we can be the faithful disciples you want us to be.  Amen.
