Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – John 11:43-44

Tuesday, October 30, 2012 – Proper 26/Ordinary 31, Year B

John 11:43-44When Jesus had said this, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus come out!”  The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth.  Jesus said to them, “Unbind him and let him go.”

What struck me in reading this passage is the partnership between Jesus and the family.  Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, then the family is asked to unbind him.  Likewise, our hands working together with God’s healing presence can perform miracles.

Prayer: Healer God, thank you for opportunities to help free our neighbors from those things which bind them.  Amen.
