Friday, July 20, 2012 – Proper 11/Ordinary 16, Year B
Mark 6:30-31 – The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, ”Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
While we are called to care for one another, this passage clearly reminds us that we are also expected to care for ourselves. We can’t serve others or serve God effectively if we are hungry or tired.
Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for reminding us that you want us to care for ourselves as well as our brothers and sisters. AMEN.
