Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Mark 13:31-33

Friday, November 25, 2011 – First Sunday of Advent, Year B

Mark 13:31-33Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come.

What I hear when I read these words is that just as God is faithful, we too are to be faithful at all times. It challenges us to lead lives that anticipate God’s presence around every corner and in every face.

Prayer: Gracious God, we don’t know the day or hour of your return, but we ask you for strength today so that we will act in ways that are true to your will. AMEN.
