Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Exodus 33:15-16

Monday, October 10, 2011 – Proper 24 & Ordinary 29, Year A

The lectionary selections for this week include: Exodus 33:12-23, Psalm 99, 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10, and Matthew 22:15-22. Alternate selections include Isaiah 45:1-7 and Psalm 96:1-9.

Exodus 33:15-16: And Moses said to the Lord, “If your presence will not go, do not carry us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people, unless you go with us? In this way, we shall be distinct, I and your people, from every people on the face of the earth.”

How does God’s presence in your life make you distinct? Can people tell you are a person of faith from your actions toward them? I think our faith can shine through as a testament to God through small things we do for one another…understanding touches, kind words, helping hands.

Prayer: Gracious God, help our lives be living testaments to your presence in our lives. AMEN.
