Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Philippians 4:8-9

Friday, October 7, 2011 – Proper 23 & Ordinary 28, Year A

Philippians 4:8-9Finally, beloved, whatever it true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

This is a wonderful pair of verses with which to end this week. We have been asked to be patient and gentle with each other and to be supportive of one another to the point of pleading each other’s case before God. We have been assured that God leads us to times of restoration and stands beside us in our times of trial. We are asked to be peacemakers on behalf of our God of peace.

Prayer: Loving God, help us to always be of right mind so that we might be the people you need us to be: gentle, patient and supportive. AMEN.
