Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Matthew 21:33-35

Friday, September 30, 2011 – Proper 22 & Ordinary 27, Year A

Matthew 21:33-35“Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenants and went to another country. When harvest time had come, he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his produce. But the tenants seized his slaves and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.

As tenant-managers of God’s creation, we are the caretakers of God’s world as well as caretakers of each other. With that said, it is too easy for us to become destructive members of God’s creation, as is the case of the tenants in this parable.

Prayer: Trusting God, you have placed much responsibility on our shoulders, and we so often fall short of your expectations. Help us be the people you would have us be. AMEN.
