Daily Devotion from the Church Health Center – Isaiah 50:6-9a

Isaiah 50:6-9aI gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard…The Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame; he who vindicates me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand up together. Who are my adversaries? Let them confront me. It is the Lord GOD who helps me; who will declare me guilty?

We are approaching Holy Week, that somber week that ends with crucifixion of Jesus. I have wondered if Jesus thought of this very passage as they nailed him to the cross. We worship a God who has faith in us and who will not abandon us. Take comfort knowing God is with you on your peaks and in your valleys.

Prayer: Steadfast God, for standing by our side when we would otherwise be alone, we give you thanks. AMEN.
